Massless test of innerHTML swaps:

Success: IE 5.0*(PC,MAC), Netscape 6.0*

Failed! On PC: IE 5.5

The test? Use any <select> menu in right column.
Then type any combination of letters.

WHAT SHOULD APPEAR: A text field which can receive keyboard input.

WHAT FAILS on IE 5.5: Try it once and it works. Try it a second time without refreshing the browser...
only the first letter of any combination of keystrokes is recorded.

RESOLUTION: Without documentation on IE5.5 DOM handling practices...hmmm...possibly undeterminable? (Ick.)
The left pull-downs were going to do stuff after I figured out
how to achieve changes in the input fields on-the-fly. Ah, well...

Left pull-down legend:

= {match the text in the right-pulldown exactly}
< {if integer or double, then compare and restrict to subset of results less than}
> {if integer or double, then compare and restrict to subset of results greater than}
Like {return all results with string at beginning}
Pat {reg.exp}
In {return all results containing string as a subset}
