First day at new job. This was overheard: (a co-worker across from me talking about my small blow-up anime figure) "What is this doll?! Jesus. Is this new guy a freak? Goddamn. All week now. I'm so tired of this bullshit. This bullshit is not going to last!" Hee! Predictably, he is older, middle-aged legacy software manager. Me: 30, fresh from south of Market in San Francisco, web development. The economy lurches and the whiplash reversal hurls us together. We are playing our roles; it's easier than finding common ground.
Change. New game. Change that is just whimsy. Life takes a cue from Nomic. Nomic? It's a game where the rules are to change the rules.
My annoyed co-worker wants to win. At my expense. I would have to lose. And vice versa. Zero-sum. I guess as children we learn zero-sum games early. Can You Suggest Any Non-Zero-Sum Games? [It's Slashdot. Scroll down for the actual messages.]
I played a little with the design of my mini-portal.
Email finally works again. Omigod. So many...of you. All of you who I used to know really well before this hide-behind-my-work thing, I miss you.
