Post-Valentine's Day - from mushy to manhunt: A rollercoaster ride. Clink. Clink. Clink. Clink. [Silence.] Whoosh. "aaaaaAAAAAhhhhh!" [Silence.] Jerk! Crack!
If you're enjoying the warm afterglow of Valentine's Day (snuggling, hugging, whiping away chocolate expectorate with the sleeve of your heart-covered pajamas) and I since I feel I should help prolong the spirit of things, I shouldn't fail to point you to this older story about a brutal death in the drug wars. (The segue? Does it help to explain that my favorite parts of any roller coaster ride are the whipcrack-fast turns?) The story I refer to is the chilling, engrossing account of the world's richest and most brutal drug trafficker and what happened when Colombia asked the US to help hunt him down as recounted in "Killing Pablo: A series of articles about the manhunt and death of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar". I didn't know about it when it occurred and I just read this and my...jaw...dropped. [from the Philadelphia Inquirer]
Here's another turn: I've just made Massless available as a headline feed using the XML/RSS format. For the non-nerds: that's just a way to easily place headlines onto web sites. It's what sites like Moreover do full-time. It's kind of fun to play with - so long as you don't filch the lead photo off of CNN.com as I've done. To get the Massless site summary in RSS just point your HTTP GET or POST to http://www.massless.org/rss and translate the XML.
