It was recently announced that OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structural Information Standards ) is adopting SOAP in the messaging layer for its emerging ebXML specification. My bias: I think that focusing on interoperability while trying to establish transport protocols for businesses who wish to trade on the Internet is a good thing. Even if that means letting Microsoft gain a little more ground in the emerging business-and-XML space.
