A Day in the Life:

A Day in the Life: Disease.
Today, I look at myself in the mirror and kind of chuckle. I have ridiculous bushy hair and it never fails to make me laugh. But staring in the mirror, I can also see the corners of my mouth becoming whiter. You see, I have vitiligo. The disease that purportedly prompted Michael Jackson to bleach his skin. What it means is that someday my face may become horribly disfigured as the disease attacks the melanin on my face and gives me a permanent white ring around my mouth or eyes. Kinda like this. If I'm lucky and I develop outlines only around my mouth I might look like a clown. (Which makes me realize that keeping the bushy hair will actually become much, much funnier later.)

But that's later. A sort of second puberty, in a way, as my body undergoes this physical change. It'd be like being a tween-ager, expecting my face to suddenly sprout a beard. I assume that I will actually frighten children. Which made me sad, until I realized that I could probably hang out at Toys R' Us all day and hog the PS2. "Hey mister, I wanna play....[I turn around]....AAAAAAAGGGGHHhhhh! Mommy, Darth Maul is hogging the game!"

If you see me out somewhere, in some bathroom or clothing store, staring at the mirror and laughing, you'll know why.
