A Day in the Life: Correspondence.
I live in an apartment in a four-plex. Friday, I put the following letter into the mailslots of my downstairs and adjacent neighbors. My first written correspondence with them!
Hi, this is Chris Wetherell, your neighbor in Apt. B.
I've got a weird story that just happened. Check it out.
This morning (Friday, March 9), just before 10AM, I was sitting at home at my computer when a young man I don't know entered my apartment through the back door. It was unlocked. He seemed startled to see me. I approached him and he left.
I have no idea why he came in. The causes could range from benign
(Maybe he's a friend of someone else in the building and just came in the wrong door)
to slightly troubling
(Maybe he's an out-of-work actor pulling a Anne Heche/Margot Kidder/Robert Downey Jr.)
to malevolent.
(He could have been planning to rob my apartment)
I gotta point out that I have *no* idea which cause is correct. Anyway, I thought I should let everyone know. And I suppose I deserve some chiding for having a door unlocked. Guilty as charged. It's just that, as an ex-Oregonian, keeping stuff unlocked is a hard habit to break...
Take care,
Chris W.
