Bloc Party to JV

Recently, I went and rated a chunk of songs sitting in iTunes and didn't realize until this morning's high-rated shuffle that John Vanderslice's Promising Actress is a fitting younger sibling to Bloc Party's Banquet. It's those bells. Peal away, young (um) bellist!

Promising Actress has this wonderful bit of lyrical disappointment: "Sometimes a cowboy's just a man in a cowboy suit."

    "all hat and no cattle" probably wouldn't have fit the mad rhyme scheme of the song, but its certainly more quotable.
