Making stuff as a founder of Avocado. Former music-maker. Tuna melt advocate. Started Google Reader. (But smarter people made it great.)

Musicians should have feeds. (Citizens has one now.)

I like seeing music live. But most of my favorite artists can't tour as frequently as they'd like. Finding if they're playing in town means I have to rely on frequent visits to...
  • ...their websites
  • ...the online calendars of local venues
  • ...link sites on which my favorite bands might appear.
All this activity makes me wish more bands had feeds. So last week Dan let me add a Citizens Here and Abroad upcoming shows feed.

A nice side effect: viewing the feed within Reader makes it easy to browse our tour history. Work that scrollwheel!

Too few musicians or labels actually have feeds for their shows, though Sub Pop is a nice exception and includes a page chock full of feeds for their bands and podcasts. I think they should include the venue address and the entire lineup in the items for their tour feeds, though.

I'm considering adding an enclosure of an mp3 in each entry as an example. Maybe that's unnecessary - subscribers would already know what we sound like, right?

(I'm eager to add a shows feed for Dealership, too, but legacy code is a temporary hinderance.)

Sure your fans know the music, but who looks free MP3s in the mouth? Really.

I hope the Dealership feed happens soon. I *heart* Dealership.

Oh, and Kendall has the crew down at the Burger King where he works groovin' to the Dealership beat at work.

Oh, BTW, how was Davis? We were going to come but Kendall had to be at work early on Sunday and so we had to choose the responsible path instead. No matter how good Davis was, I promise Chico will be better! It's a very artsy place and even Sunset Magazine (in the current online edition) thinks Chico is a great place for a weekend trip. ;-D So hurry up and get up here!

Hugs to you and your Magpie.

Wow... haha This is totally random, but I was searching for "Elvish Names" and came across your blog. I had a radio show in college about two years ago called "Nerdic Noise," where we played various nerd-inclined music, from Red Hot Chili Peppers ("Parallel Universe") to Animaniacs ("Parts of the Brain") to Weird Al ("Livin' La Vida Yoda"), and your Dealership Song ("Nerdy Girl") was one of my favorites to play. hehe Just so you know. :) Good luck w/ everything! ^_^
