Google Maps is available for Safari and Opera.
So Maps now works for Safari 1.2 and the latest version of Opera. Excellent.

A good question to ask since we'll launch from behind like a deer being chased by a tank. They'll have the wide eyes. They'll have to drop their bags and runnnn - don't they know "If you hit me, you know, like, it's a federal offense?" And the sentence is pain! I just tried it with Opera 7.54 and Opera 8.0 beta on Linux and neither of them worked. Is it only on Windows that it works?

It should be 7.54 everywhere. Hmm. It's working from the Googleplex, but I just tested outside our walls and also experienced the same problem. I'll try and find out what's going on.

A-ha. Someone found the issue. We are updating Maps and will resolve this pretty soon...
The js-fu is still good and isn't a part of the problem. People should be able to see it soon.

It is loading in Safari but in both Safari and Firefox, I'm missing the "bubbles and pins." I only get the map, and nothing extra. Anyone else?

Printing doesn't work in Safari. When routes are overlayed, the underlying map blocks do not appear.

More on printing: I'm finding that Safari more often than not will crash when Print Preview is attempted.
Too bad. If printing worked well then driving directions would be much more useful.

It has many bug fixes and improvements like now supporting Google Maps and Google Suggest. Beta 2 is only available for Windows right now, but should come along shortly on Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris and Mac OS X so check the beta testing forums once in a while: http://my.opera.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=31

Unless Opera is going to follow the W3C spec PRECISELY, we don't need it. I'm sorry, but I couldn't care less who this offends. I'm not fixing bugs for Safari, Opera, iCab or any of the other corniness that exists out there. I will develop for W3C standards, and make fixes for IE (because it's market share warrants it.) I will test for W3C compliance with their own validation service, and check the display in Mozilla (since they could get 50 million users overnight if AOL stops being such pussies.) That's it. No Opera hacks, no more BS. If Safari supports the standards, I'll gladly support it, the same goes for Opera, but there will be absolutely NO "be nice to opera" comments in my code--for all I care, Opera users can go die, they are obviously the dumbest people alive since a free alternative with superior standards support exists yet the continue to EVANGLEIZE this stupid piece of software.
